Portfolio - What Does Yours Says About You?
A portfolio says a lot about an individual and a company. What will a company learn about you or your company when they look at your portfolio? Does it say hire me, my organization will fill your needs? This session will provide information on ways to enhance personal and professional portfolios that appeal to the needs of prospective employers or customers. Portfolio preparation should include critical elements that communicate an individual’s or company’s ability to be the selection of choice.
SEVA will provide each attendee with a black portfolio, page protectors, and index dividers. Attendees will leave the session with an outline for a winning portfolio, a portfolio that says “Yes, this individual or company is what we’re looking for.”
Pre-Session Preparation: Attendees are to bring items for their Portfolio. Possible items include:
- Resume’
- Samples of work ( Examples: artwork, written songs, sample music, and articles written)
- Written references that validate your resume’ (Examples: customer comments, and on-time delivery data)
- Samples of work that was outside the box, different, and cutting edge
- Summary and samples of what makes you unique
- Copies of transcripts
- Copies of certifications (Current - Out-of-date does not show commitment to your trade or field)

BE PREPARED to be HIRED – Have copies of birth certificate, SSN card, Driver’s license, voided check, passport, and dependent’s information
Bio:
Marcia Downing of Marciaz Consulting, is an independent consultant with experience in designing and delivering training materials for instructional and computer based training. Her current profession provides her the opportunity to manage projects leading to the development of new and revised instructor led and computer based training.
As a consultant, Marcia consults individuals and businesses on business acumen, portfolio development, needs assessment, event planning, team building, engagement, and project management. She keeps abreast of leading and effective training and business techniques through continuous learning, participation in group panel discussions, presentations at conferences, attendance at career and professional workshops, participation as an attendee and presenter at career and professional workshops, and continually researching current and future training and business materials, methods, techniques and trends.
